The new 'Followers' gadget, which may, or may not be, available to all Bloggers at this time, is, I think ...
FANTASTIC
If you have a Dashboard like mine, displaying the 'Followers' notification, or you can see the 'Plus' sign on your Gadgets wizard, next to the 'Followers' gadget, then you can follow any Blog, which has feeds enabled - see: Settings - Site Feed). Or, if you see a Blog with the 'Followers' gadget displayed ...
Click on the 'Follow this Blog'. Or, if you are already a user of Following, just click on the 'Add' option on your Reading List (on the bottom of your Dashboard) and add the URL of the Blog you want to follow (see below)
If the Blog you want to follow, doesn't have feeds enabled, you will see this notice on your Reading List...
If you are already 'Following' - actively, and you 'surf' to a Blog, displaying this widget ...
... you can stop, 'Following' that Blog. Or, as one of the reasons 'Following' is available, you could click on 'View All' and surf to their Blogs, too. Maybe you'll see another Blog worth Following?
This Gadget is a wonderful way to obtain Blog posts as a 'feed', and should be treated that way.
To start 'Following', and I say again, providing that the Blog in question has 'Feeds' enabled, (you can 'Follow' Blogs which do NOT have 'Follow' active, by adding their URL to your Reading List), simply click on the 'Follow Me' text, and this next window will open ...
You get a choice to follow that Blog - Publicly, or Anonymously, although I can't understand why you wouldn't want someone to know, however, once you decide that, click the 'FOLLOW' button. This next window opens...
OK. Now you are a 'Follower'.
Should You wish to 'STOP' following a Blog, click on the 'STOP FOLLOWING' text of the Gadget. You'll get this window ...
Click on the 'STOP FOLLOWING' button, and you get this next window...
Finished. Now you are a 'NON-FOLLOWER' of that Blog. You follow me?
