I've written on the subject of deleting in haste and regretting at leisure, and there's lots been written on the subject of deleting Google accounts, then trying to get them restored, because your favourite blog was attached to the account!
I still see the occasional bloggers asking for help on these matters. eg:
from 2008 to the beginning of 2009 I have had a blog which contained most of my beloved posts of memories and pictures which was then hacked into and deleted. I asked blogger if they could search their archive files and the best I could do was use Cache amongst the Google server but could not find posts."
and this -
"Closed my Google e/mail, not thinking I would lose my blog!"
I can only imagine what it must be like to realise all your hard work is gone - possibly, forever. There is hope, however, - a light at the end of the tunnel.
Bloggers really do have to take some responsibility about their Accounts and blogs and do some research and reading. Too many just delete first and, as I have said, regret at leisure. If you have a challenge, a.k.a. problem, think about it first. Ask yourself:
- Where will I get advice? Maybe Blogger Help? Or...
- Blogger Forum?
- Is deleting my blog the only answer?
- Do I delete my Google Account to fix this problem? The answer to that would always be a resounding - NO.
Remember, your blog is like the limb of a tree, and Google is the trunk. You can't chop down the trunk without killing the limb(s).
